CBSE Issues Show-Cause Notice to 34 Schools for Rule Violations

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued show-cause notices to 34 schools for failing to adhere to the terms outlined in the Affiliation Bye-Laws of 2018. This step comes in response to violations related to unaffiliated organizations and non-compliance with the board’s policies.

One of the primary issues was the participation of several schools in sports events organized by the “CBSE Board School Games Welfare Society” (CBSE-WSO) in Agra, Uttar Pradesh.

This entity has no affiliation with CBSE. The board has strictly advised schools to refrain from associating with such organizations. Any collaboration or participation in activities led by such groups could result in sanctions under CBSE’s policies.

Response Expected

The schools receiving the notices are mandated to respond within 30 days from the issuance date. Affected schools can find the complete list of violations and implicated institutions on the official CBSE website, ensuring transparency and accessibility for stakeholders.

CBSE emphasized its earlier directive from Circular No. 04/2019, which highlighted the need for strict compliance with the Affiliation Bye-Laws. Specifically:

  • Clause No. 12: Noncompliance constitutes a violation, warranting action under Chapter 12 of the 2018 Bye-Laws.
  • Clause 9.2: Holds school heads accountable for ensuring adherence to CBSE guidelines.

Official Advisory

The board urged schools to verify communications against the official CBSE database and ignore unauthorized entities claiming affiliations. This vigilance aims to maintain educational and administrative standards, safeguarding students’ and stakeholders’ interests.

This decisive move by CBSE underscores the importance of rule enforcement and institutional accountability in the education sector. It also serves as a stern reminder for all affiliated schools to align their practices with official guidelines to avoid facing similar consequences.
